Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how NQDC Calculator ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares information when you use NQDC Calculator (the "Service"). We collect as little as we need to run the Service. We don't sell your personal information and we don't use advertising trackers.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, which we use to create your account and send you sign-in links.
- Subscription information. If you buy Pro, Stripe processes your payment. We receive and store Stripe's customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, its status and its renewal or end date. Your card number and other payment details go directly to Stripe; we never receive or store them.
- Saved scenarios. If you choose to save a scenario (a Pro feature), we store the inputs and the name you give it in your account so you can reopen it.
- Business inquiries. If you contact us through the employer inquiry form or by email, we collect your name, work email, company, role, the approximate number of eligible employees and your message, and use them to respond and to discuss a license.
- Session cookie. When you sign in, we set one essential cookie that keeps you signed in. See section 5.
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records basic technical information about requests, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time, for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
2. Information we don't collect
The calculator runs in your browser. The pay, income, tax and plan details you enter stay on your device and are not sent to us, unless you save a scenario to your account. They are kept in your browser's local storage so a refresh or sign-in returns you to where you were, and are cleared when you sign out or reset the calculator. If you share a settings code or turn on keeping inputs in the page address, that information is in the code or link you share and in your browser history, under your control.
3. How we use information
- to provide the Service, sign you in and keep your account secure;
- to process your subscription, send receipts, renewal reminders and account notices;
- to store and return the scenarios you save;
- to respond to business and licensing inquiries;
- to prevent fraud and abuse, and to maintain and fix the Service; and
- to comply with legal obligations.
We don't send marketing email unless you opt in, and every marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe.
4. Service providers
We share information only with providers that help us run the Service, under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Cloudflare: hosting, database storage and network security.
- Stripe: payment processing, subscription billing and the customer billing portal.
- Resend: delivery of sign-in and account emails.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
5. Cookies
We use one essential, first-party session cookie to keep you signed in. It is marked secure and HTTP-only and can't be read by scripts on the page. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Stripe may set its own cookies on its checkout and billing pages for fraud prevention, under Stripe's privacy policy. Our pages load the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font is requested.
6. Retention
We keep your account information and saved scenarios while your account is open. Sign-in links expire shortly after they are sent and sessions expire after a period of inactivity. Billing records may be kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Business inquiries are kept as long as needed to respond and to manage any resulting relationship. Server logs are kept for a limited period. We delete nothing on a timer: your account stays until you ask us to delete it, including after a subscription ends. Once you ask, we delete or de-identify your information within 30 days, except where we must keep it by law.
7. Your choices and requests
You can delete saved scenarios at any time in the app. To access, correct or delete your information, or to close your account, email us at privacy@nqdccalculator.com. We will verify the request by confirming it from your account email address.
8. U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live, for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We don't sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can exercise your rights by emailing privacy@nqdccalculator.com, and we won't treat you differently for doing so. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
9. Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), store sign-in tokens and session identifiers only in hashed form, use passwordless sign-in so there are no passwords to steal, and limit who can access production data. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your email account secure.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children and is meant for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Where information is processed
The Service is intended for users in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where they operate.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change is material, we will notify you by email or in the Service before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
